Ayer mosquito control

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a summer without having to deal with mosquitoes? Not only are these little buggers annoying, but they’re downright dangerous with all the diseases they carry. While malaria was eradicated in the United States 50 years ago, it’s still a huge problem in developing parts of the world like Africa. An outbreak of dengue, another mosquito-borne illness, recently occurred in India. While we don’t need to worry about those two particular diseases in our part of the world, the CDC released a report in May 2018 indicating that mosquito- and tick-borne diseases have more than tripled in the United States since 2004.

West Nile virus is the most common mosquito-borne disease here in America, and thanks to climate change and heavy rains, it’s appearing earlier and earlier every year. In fact, in 2018, WNV-carrying mosquitoes were already found in Ayer as early as mid-July. While the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project (CMMCP) does its best to spray areas where WNV-infected mosquitoes can be found, know that they’re fighting an uphill battle when it comes to Ayer mosquito control. The formula that they use in their fogging trucks only knocks down adult mosquitoes on contact, and has no effect anywhere that their spray doesn’t reach. And rarely does that fog from their fogging trucks go any further than your driveway.

Mosquito Squad’s Ayer mosquito control is different. Not only does our specially formulated, EPA-registered formula knock down nearly 90% of mosquitoes in your yard, it continues to eliminate them for up to 21 days after application — guaranteed.

How our Ayer mosquito control works

When our certified technicians arrive at your house, the first thing they do is treat and eliminate any mosquito breeding sites like standing water with larvicide, to stop mosquitoes in their younger stages from maturing. While CMMCP does larviciding as well, they only do it in large public areas like salt marshes and drainage ditches. Every little bit helps, but the truth is the mosquitoes most likely to bite you are the ones that were bred on your own property or neighborhood.

After the larvicide stage, we then get to work spraying your yard from the perimeter inward with our signature barrier treatment using our mist-blower backpacks. We hit all the places mosquitoes like to hide — all vegetation like bushes, trees, the undersides of leaves, and even places like underneath decks. We’re careful to avoid anything bees pollinate like flowers, but otherwise we get it all.

It takes only about 30 minutes for our odorless, colorless solution to dry, at which time you and your family are free to return to enjoying your yard. But once it’s dry, any time a mosquito (or other biting bug) lands on the solution, it is eliminated. One Mosquito Squad barrier treatment will continue eliminating nearly 90% of mosquitoes for up to 21 days after application, thanks to its micro encapsulated formula. It’s the most effective Ayer mosquito control on the market!

After those three weeks, we strongly recommend another treatment, but we make it easier for homeowners by offering seasonal packages, so that you don’t need to worry about remembering to schedule another. We’ll always call a day in advance to let you know we’re coming, but you don’t even need to be home when we do. We’ll leave a confirmation of service on your door, and you’ll be enjoying mosquito-free summers at home all season long!

Are you looking for even stronger mosquito control than our traditional barrier spray? If you live in an area that’s a little more “woodsy” than others, or perhaps near a body of water, or have a barn, our automatic misting systems may be the right solution for you. These systems are programmed to emit a mist of our barrier treatment formula for about 45 seconds at designated intervals, but you also have the option to trigger the mist on your command, because they come with both a remote control and an app for your phone. You can even adjust the schedule if you want to. They’re easy to install for our technicians, and we design every misting system to blend in with the features of your yard and landscape so that they’re as “camouflaged” as possible.

The best part about misting systems? Mosquito Squad takes care of everything — spring startup, winterization, maintenance, and even refills. If anything goes wrong, of if you’re running low on barrier treatment solution, we’re alerted on our end by the technology and will know that it’s time to give your system attention. Automatic misting systems are a true “set it and forget it” answer to your Ayer mosquito control needs!

Prefer to keep it green? No problem.

All of Mosquito Squad’s products are registered with the EPA, but we know there are some people who prefer to avoid synthetics all together. That’s why we also offer an all-natural barrier treatment solution that we mix in-house using essential oils and a few other key ingredients to keep the bugs away.

Like our traditional formula, our all-natural solution also knocks down mosquitoes on contact, but then acts as a repellant, not an eliminator. You may notice a slight botanical smell after application, but it wears off to the human nose in a couple hours. However, to a bug, it confuses and “chases” them off your property. Our all-natural formula is around 80% effective, and like the traditional formula, it’s also time released. But because of its botanical makeup, it breaks down slightly faster so we recommend re-application every two weeks instead of three.

Having a party? Be sure to alert the SQUAD to make it memorable for the right reasons!

Are you planning an outdoor wedding? Graduation party? Family reunion? No matter that the occasion, make sure your guests aren’t on the mosquito menu with one of our special event treatments. Alert the SQUAD and we’ll come out to the site one to three days in advance and treat the entire area with our barrier spray.

It only takes us about 20 minutes to administer the treatment and about 30 minutes to dry, so it’s easy to schedule around caterers, tent setup, and other event prep. We’ll be there and gone before you know it, and your guests will remember your event for the right reasons, not because of all the mosquitoes!
